Initiatives
Health Affordability Initiative
AMHP has begun its year long Health Affordability Initiative to advocate for increased health care access to individuals across the country. This advocacy has taken a multi-pronged approach to not only create awareness at the community level, but to have our concerns heard at all levels of government.
The Health Affordability Initiative aims to provide a platform by which open dialogue is fostered and better, more affordable health care is available to all.

August Initiative
The “August Initiative” is a project to get all of our members out and advocating for health care reform by contacting their legislators while they are in their home districts, during the August recess. AMHP has developed our healthcare reform platform addressing key elements of proposed legislation that can be found here.
AMHP is asking all its members to visit, call, and email their congressmen and women.
- In-person Visit – Please call, email, fax, or mail your senators and representative and ask for an appointment. A standard letter to request an appointment is available here. This can be emailed, faxed, or mailed to make the meeting request.
- Phone Call – Please call your senators and representative and articulate your position on healthcare reform. A standard call script is available here. In addition, feel free to use any of the documents about healthcare reform listed above when stating your position.
- Email/Mail – Please send an email or mail a letter to your senators and representative. A standard letter stating our position and key talking points is available here.
Please feel free to use and personalize any of these documents for your use. In addition, tips to help facilitate your correspondences with your legislators can be found here.
August is the opportune time to have your voices heard on the issues that matter the most to you. We encourage the community to make this needed outreach that will shape the future of health care this country.
