Title: Project Coordinator (3 open position):
Summary:
AMHP is seeking a project coordinator to be the regional lead for the Health Education Taskforce. This is a strictly volunteer position but give a breadth of experience and networking opportunity for the right individual. You will gain the opportunity to meet people in the health care industry, lead a note-worthy initiative as well as build your resume.
These are UNPAID, part-time (5-10 hours/week) positions that require a minimum 1 year commitment.
Position Location: The position is largely a telecommuting position with only a couple of in-person meetings during the year.
Responsibilities:
• Manage:
o Work with team members to develop scopes of work
o Develop and oversee project budgets
o Work with program manager to obtain project financing and prepare on-going reporting
• Delegate:
o Delegate tasks to appropriate team members and implement solutions relating to project, budget, and management
o Develop and maintain communication pipeline with key people (board members, program manager, and volunteers)
• Networking:
o Work with local organizations and officers as needed in the development process
• Coordinator:
o Facilitate taskforce meetings
o Submit required paperwork to program manager and the board
o Monitor project schedule and oversee details such as plan selection
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree or in process
- Motivated and reliable self-starter
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Confident individual with excellent interpersonal communication skills

Title: Public Health Campaign Interns (4-6 open positions)
Summary:
AMHP is seeking interns to assist with the Healthy Ummah Initiative, a major national campaign being held in partnership with First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move effort and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Interns will work with AMHP’s Task Forces on Education and Policy to plan and implement regional activities to promote healthy eating and physical activity through with mosques, community groups, and national and local faith-based organizations.
These are UNPAID, part-time (5-10 hours/week) positions that require a minimum 6 month commitment.
Letters of recommendation and networking opportunities with national staff and government and nonprofit allies will be made available.
Position Location: Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Houston, and other major metropolitan areas.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess partnership opportunities with local mosques, community groups and faith-based organizations
- Develop tailored plan of action for each partner
- Coordinate and participate in informational and planning meetings with AMHP staff and local leaders
- Track news and opportunities related to the national Let’s Move effort
- Plan events with mosques and other partners to kick off collaboration
- Develop and disseminate press releases within local communities
- Conduct surveys to evaluate attitudes of participating organizations
- Produce content for Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites
- Attend, facilitate, and help with logistics for various events and meetings
- Perform other functions as needed
Qualifications:
- Interest in public health, health care, health policy, or interfaith activities
- Knowledge of community organizations and their priorities
- Strong writing and communication abilities
- Ability to excel individually or in a team-setting
- Familiarity with scheduling and project management
- General awareness of news related to Let’s Move, health or wellness promotion
- Strong interest in empowering American Muslim health professionals
