Ronald E. LaPorte, PhD

Dr. LaPorte received his Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology in 1977, and a Masters degree in Epidemiology, 1981. Since then, he has had over 505 publications in Epidemiology, Global Health, and Internet and was recognized as a First Distinguished Teacher, at the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh in 1989.

He received the Lillienfeld Award, awarded by the American Public Health Association (APHA) for outstanding life time achievement in education and has worked in a variety of positions including as Director of Disease Monitoring and Telecommunications at the WHO Collaborating Center, in the Department of Epidemiology and Developer and Principal Investigator of the WHO multinational Project for Childhood Diabetes, involving 155 centers in 70 countries
Dr. LaPorte has had numerous funded national and international projects from NIH, and NASA and has received the Kelly West Diabetes Epidemiology Award from the American Diabetes Association
